In the end, after purchasing it, I found that installing a heatsink on an NVME drive is not recommended because flash memory chips need to operate at a higher temperature for maximum durability. It would be better if this adapter only cools the controller chip, which would help limit thermal throttling. The included heatsink covers both the flash and the controller - I think you can trim the thermal pads to fit just the controller, but without realizing how hot these chips get in a sealed assembly I can't take that approach not recommend. Decent quality unit, although I doubt their choice with such small screws, they easily unscrew from the aluminum heatsink. Tip: Find a heatsink that only covers the controller, this device is not needed.
