Our 4 year old loves to go camping with us. We decided he needed real walking shoes after watching him try to climb in his wellies on a family hike. These boots are durable, tightly laced and knotted, and offer plenty of grip. Are they 100% waterproof? Not if he steps into a puddle or snowdrift that swallows the boot. I think that's largely true of most hiking boots. So revealing that I carry a pair of dry socks in my backpack for him. I didn't want to pay for more expensive shoes as he would grow up and change shoes regularly. So overall, solid hiking shoes at a reasonable price.
