Steel adapter ring to attach to the front of the Sony RX100 (M6 in my case, not sure if it fits other models in the RX100 series) and She can then optionally screw in a 52mm filter (and/or use the included lens cap). I love the idea of protecting the front of the lens as well as a thin "shutter" over the lens when the camera is off by using a UV filter at all times. The fit and finish of the ring is good and does not block the lens in any way, whether open or closed or zoomed in/out. The steel adapter ring is held flush on the front of the lens with 3M tape. The manufacturer's description here on Revain (and on the box) says it's "removable and eco-friendly," but I found the ring appeared to be glued to the front of the lens a few days after installation. I tried heating it with a hair dryer and threading a thin thread between the ring and the lens where the tape is. Try prying gently with a plastic tool. I used enough force to worry about damaging the camera and finally gave up. I just wanted to know if it's removable and also wanted to test a different brand adapter ring but apparently it's not removable. I emailed the JJC manufacturer through their website for this item, but never received a reply on the removal procedure. If they ever reply I will update this review. A spare 3M sticker is included in the package should you ever remove it from there. Incidentally, when this ring is in place, it adds a little over 1/8 inch (not quite 3/16 inch) to the thickness of the chamber. Lens. If you add a filter, e.g. a thinner black and white UV filter, you get just over 1/4 inch extra thickness overall. Enough that you may need to buy another camera bag or bag. The other branded adapter ring I ordered is called the Lensmate Quick-Change Filter Adapter (get it for the Mark 6 if you need it). It is made of plastic and uses a bayonet design to attach the UV filter to the camera mounted ring (again using 3M glue). The Lensmate is only slightly thinner than the JJC design and is worth checking out if you're considering buying one. If I ever photograph JJC I will try Lensmate and review it separately.
