I have been using Hanes socks for years and have been generally satisfied, but when I ordered these I was looking for something softer and more durable. Having never heard of this brand before, I ordered a small pack to try. The socks themselves appear to be better constructed than the Hanes. The entire foot, not just the sole, is made of a denser, heavier material than the Hanes. The top of the leg seems a little looser and easier to knit than the hanes. The band around the top of the sock isn't as tight as Hanes' and doesn't leave a noticeable crease in the leg like Hanes', and I like the looser fit. Overall, hiking socks are very comfortable. Please refer to the attached picture for the size. The sock on the left is a new Wander (size M 8-13) after a single wash. The middle sock is the same new hiking sock (size M 8-13) before washing. The sock on the right is an old Hanes (size 6-12) after many washes. I realized I was wrong and Wander (size L 12-15) should have ordered. The Wander socks shrunk in the wash and since my shoe size is in the 12-13 range, the Medium Wander isn't big enough, although the Hanes (size 6-12) were big enough. So be prepared for some shrinkage and consider sizing up if your foot is at the top of the size range. I've since ordered new larger packs and I suspect I'll be quite happy with them. Hiking socks are noticeably more expensive than what I paid for Hanes, but I hope the product is better quality too. Early tests seem to confirm better quality and higher cushioning.
