DEFECTIVE Sensor hasn't worked for less than a year

I've had this bin for less than a year. I would have to check carefully when I bought it, but why bother. I assume that this bank will not work for many years. One night in my dream I heard the lid opening and closing. I didn't know if a rat had come into the house or if it was a ghost. That was last month. As a result, this behavior has been terminated. Two days ago it started again and now the lid won't close (see video). I unplugged it, cleaned the sensor and did everything I could think of. It was a waste of money. I wish it was like Sears so I can return this piece of junk.
