The edge that is the spine or cover of the briefcase has a 1mm gap between the cover and the frame of the tablet. It's good if the tablet fell down. On the other hand, there is no "crumple zone" that would absorb shocks in the event of a fall. In addition, the cover does not activate or deactivate the screen. and judging by the ports in the design, I'm not even sure it's designed specifically for the iPad Air 4. A good thing - the leather smelled fantastic! Looks authentic!
