Review on Purina Cat Chow Gentle Adult by Phil Casey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finally 3 nights without cat vomit!

I have tried so hard to make sure my cats are REALLY getting the best nutrition possible. I nearly went broke for buying premium, grain free, no salmon, chicken or rabbit, most of which refuse to eat. They literally ran around the house crying and one of them would wake me up at night begging for food. I was beginning to think someone in that house had gone mad. (Note that I buy the cheaper food I give to feral cats in our area - my cats wanted THAT! They sat meowing by the bag.) In a fit of desperation after reading some positive reviews, I decided to Purina Cat Chow to try Soft . When I think about it, years before the premium pet food craze, I raised many healthy cats on Purina Cat Chow and they loved it. I read the ingredients and realized oh my god this is good; then said what the hell. As soon as I got it I mixed it 50/50 with their current premium food (i.e. really expensive). The two older guys immediately pounced on the bowl and immediately picked up and ate all of the tender cat treats. For the first few days I had to fill up the dry food container twice a day. And wonder of wonders, I never woke up at night from cat vomit. As an added bonus, my old (16 year old) Siamese friend didn't wake me up at 3, 4 or 5 am to beg for food. Maybe my cats are just trash and love spam! Anyway, they are much happier and I didn't step in and clean up the cat vomit for 3 days - the first time, I don't remember when. I hope it stays with us and my old boys continue to do well. Whether or not the ingredients are on the list of "all the amazing things your cats should and shouldn't eat," it looks like we're back to Purina Cat Chow. (Oh, our other cat, much younger than little stable rescuer, hasn't complained, so apparently she's happy too.)
