Handheld steadicams are very common among videographers and traveling YouTubers these days. There's a good reason for that. They're definitely better than regular handheld video, even with the camera's optical stabilizer or lens. They are also less bulky and more presentable than traditional steadycams that require support around the operator's midsection. Of course, this also results in fewer parts, resulting in lower manufacturing costs and ultimately lower prices. But how can it be so cheap? Unlike some of the more expensive handheld stabilizers, this one has no electronics. More sophisticated and expensive devices combine counterweights with electronics that actively balance the camera or camcorder regardless of your hand position. This particular device only relies on balance weights on the underside. The device is tricky to set up, but works quite well, especially considering the price. My only caveat is that there should be at least one other slot at the top as an additional extra position to balance the camera or camcorder. Otherwise, you can do a presentable job by recording videos while walking as usual. This is handy for POV (point of view) shots when exploring the street or following someone at a reasonable pace. When you jog, you need to control your own steps to avoid overjogging. At less than $30, this device is very affordable.
