A very nice touch for our fireplace. I can't say anything about fire safety - we don't make fires, only candles. The former owner of our home did not maintain the firebox, and this "dresses up" the otherwise beautiful fireplace. Be sure to measure your chimney opening before ordering. Ours only fit about an inch or so in stock. The legs are non-adjustable and welded. There is no screen behind the design. By that I mean the design is open, which isn't a problem if your fireplace has those mesh curtains. If not, it probably won't work for you when you actually use your fireplace. One final note: the green color in the design is more reminiscent of forest green than the bronze green that appeared on my monitor.
