One of our cats likes to chew on wires. destroyed 3 in about 2 weeks! I went looking for cables like this and since then (several weeks) there have been no damaged cables. I don't know if this has to do with the durability of the metal skin or if cats just don't like the taste or feel of it. But whatever the reason, it helps! (This is the first cable I've tried and it worked so well that I've bought others for my devices that require a different type of connector.)
