I like that it's open source, so you can customize your own version of MySQL for use in an enterprise environment without paying licensing fees to Oracle or another vendor who may not be as interested about providing support beyond what they charge per year (or more).
It also has some nice features such as being able to have multiple users connect at once with their respective credentials - this allows us to do things quickly when we need them done! The only thing i dislike right now is having too many options/features which makes configuring certain aspects difficult but other than that everything else seems great! We are using hsqldb specifically because its free compared to others out there including mysql jdbc drivers etc., however if anyone knows any good alternatives please let me know :).
