The cable doesn't appear to be made like the one that came with the computer, but it holds up well. I don't notice any performance differences, but I've never really paid attention to charge times or battery length, so I might not notice if there's a difference. The cable isn't as long as my old one, but I wouldn't call it short. I will continue to use it but I will say that the $5 saved wasn't worth it. It's not bad, but I'd like to choose differently.
