As others have said, it's "cheap plastic". As is the original Harley fender extension that this part replaces. I have a 2012 StreetGlide. Yes, I had to find and drill a hole for the antenna. When it was finally fitted it fit and looked good. However, the "three-stripe rear light" attached below did not fit properly, the cut-outs for the slots were too small. I had to use a Dremel tool and a small circular file to enlarge the cutouts for the "three strip light". It took a little while to get ready for installation. It looks great with my 4" extra long pockets.
