My children have never used pacifiers like they used to. All of my children are breastfed and very picky until they are around 3 years old and then want to be held 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As a stay-at-home mom, I can adjust her by holding her in my arms or carrying her in a stretcher until my husband gets home, where he's happy to take control and I can nap or do chores. Well when I got to baby #3 I knew it was time to finally use a pacifier as my baby #2 is less willing to help with a baby than his big brother. In the past I have tried with my two other children respectively. Single. Dummy. I could pull myself together (eventually give up), so I had a lot of reserves. Also with baby #3 I tried them all again and these AVENT pacifiers are the ONLY ones where the baby has mouth fed more than 3 times. I think it has something to do with the fact that I can put my finger on the bottom of the pacifier and he thinks he's sucking my finger for a few seconds until I take my hand away. Sure, I use them sparingly and infrequently, but they bring a little common sense into my life, long enough to tend to my little ones' needs or handle deeper chores around the house.
