These shoes are cute, beautifully made and very comfortable for my daughter. However, they have their advantages and disadvantages. Pros: They're cute, flexible, comfortable, and overall very well made. My daughter loves them and they are easy to put on by herself (she is 3.5 years old). Cons: The flexibility of these shoes comes from very soft treads that wear out and get dirty quickly and easily. This is both a good and a bad trait. If you want this shoe to last multiple children, it's unlikely to be worn often. Such a protector wears out fairly quickly. On the other hand, padded treads have the immediate benefit of adding flexibility to these shoes, thus reducing the risk of your child tripping over their shoes. This makes them safer because they don't last as long. Definitely a compromise situation. For reference, the white tread is the soft part - very spongy. The gray spots on the tread are "normal" tread rubber, not spongy.
