Review on Speakman S 2251 Signature Anystream Adjustable by David Bowens

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A much better head for the same money as the big names!

My wife and I are building a new house and when we went to the plumbing store to choose our fixtures we were shocked to discover how incredibly expensive they are! (for legitimate brand name bulbs, not the cheap, stripped down plastic versions you get from Lowe's or Home Depot). For example, a shower "kit" that includes a temperature control valve, matching spout, drain, and shower head easily costs $350-$500! When we evaluated the components individually, we found that the showerheads alone cost $180-$300! Yes they were for branded heads but believe me there was nothing special about them at all other than spraying water! So we started looking at other options. Of course, if we shop we could find something cheaper, and Revain has no shortage of budget-friendly showerheads - some even come with rave reviews. But in a lot of the reviews we've read, people have ditched the cheap ones and gone back to their old "Speakman" showerheads that they've had for years. Never heard of them. So we did a little more research. The price was definitely higher than the $30 we were considering, but no more than established no-frills brands, so we decided to take a chance and bought one to try, acknowledging Revain's generous return policy kept in the foreground. our thoughts. When it arrived I installed it in my wife's shower (yes we have separate showers but only because our small bathroom doesn't have room for both of our stuff hence the new house). I tried it the next day and was not only pleasantly surprised, I was just blown away! This thing was heaven on a shower stand! First, it exudes quality as soon as you pick it up. It weighs almost five hefty pounds, and when you screw it onto your showerhead, you'll notice the difference right away. It's made of metal on all sides, including the outer casing, so it's literally built to last! The installation took only 3 minutes. Simply unscrew the old head, wrap Teflon tape (included) around the shower head threads, then screw on the Speakman, hand tighten and you're done! It features a standard 2.5 GPM (gpm) limiter, but if you think you're running out of water, you can just reach for the clutch with your fingertips and pull out. Just keep in mind that without it you will at least double your water consumption, which sounds amazing in principle, but you will also quickly empty your kettle. Second, the shower itself is just amazing and totally satisfying. Each of the eight jets creates eight small jets (64 total) that create a wide, overlapping, criss-crossing pattern in the shower, massaging you everywhere! And you can adjust it from a thin, hard stream to a "flood" mode where effervescent water gently spills over you - as if you're standing under a hot waterfall. In fact, this is a bit difficult to describe, it simply has to be experienced. Some reviewers said it didn't seem to increase their "water pressure." Well, folks, water pressure isn't just determined by your showerhead, but essentially by your home's water pressure control valve, which is located somewhere near your home's main water supply. If you think the water pressure is too low, try adjusting it first (a small change can make a big difference). I can tell you that for us we went from a branded 2.5 GPM head that did virtually nothing but release the thinnest, most insignificant chunk of water to this head that feels like it's 2.5 GPM releases as if you were getting a lot more. I'm almost tempted to take the 2.5GPM limiter off to see the difference but even with its solid setup the shower far exceeded my expectations and is nothing short of one star! Even when I'm in a hurry, I have a hard time distracting myself and getting out of the shower! It's so relaxing, it's like the shower is hypnotizing me. After my wife raved about it for a few days and only having experienced it myself once, I decided I needed one in my soul too, so we ordered a second one and I have no regrets, only compliments. We store our old loudspeakers in a cupboard under the sink so that after moving in and selling the apartment we can easily return the old ones and take the loudspeakers with us to the new house. Pros+ Built to last. Could easily be the last shower head you will ever buy. Seriously!+ The shower experience is undeniably the best and most luxurious I've ever had at home (except maybe a few spa treatments)+ The 2.5 GPM limiter is easily removed with your fingertips, making for even more shower pleasure provides (if possible) . Cons: My quick 5-7 minute shower turned into a 20-25 minute shower experience (or at least until the hot water runs out, whichever comes first) - My wife and I can't accept more showers at the same time. One of us just has to wait for the water heater to fill up. Now I'm always 15 minutes late for almost everything in the morning. ! They really are as awesome as most of us reviewers say, and they really will change your shower routine for the better. I know you're hesitant because they're a bit pricey, yes. But then again, that's no more than what you'd pay for a big-name showerhead at an official plumbing store, and not a bad price at all considering it might actually be the last showerhead you'll ever buy. ! And don't forget to wash behind your ears!
