Review on Bamboo Bath Mat by Oceanstar FM1163: Enhancing your bathroom experience with sustainable luxury by Paula Kalajdzic

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The rug can support up to 225 pounds without the wood cracking in the middle on the edges of the mount

I bought one of these camping rugs. I put it outside in the winter to keep my shoes up in case it rains and water runs over the gravel storage. I also use it for camping showers. Normally the shower floor is always wet, so I take this with me and put it down to undress, then lean against the wall while showering, face to the wall, then put it back to dry. Works great and is light enough to wear in the shower. I had an issue with its durability for a heavy guy (>275). The center strip is not as thick as the sides and about 1/8 inch higher at the bottom than the 4 edge pieces (the center strip is thinner than the edges). While the center strip has a rubber foot in the middle and offers the flexibility to let you step in, if you step close to the center strip it is attached to, the wood will split as there is no rubber foot underneath and the center section does . are not flush with the outer 4 edges. My solution: I had to buy 2 mats and use parts from the first to reinforce the second mat. I removed the rubber feet from the broken one and added them (along with a 1/8 inch piece of wood from the hardware store to make them as thick as the edges) to the center strip. This held the center strip together at both ends and in the middle. Then I cut off 2 sides and added them between the center strip and the sides. Essentially, the cross planks on the rug are now supported by 3 pieces of bamboo in the middle. If I were thinner or just wanted to reinforce the mat I would simply add rubber feet to the ends of the center board with a 1/8" piece of wood underneath to prevent the ends of the center piece from cracking and the outside edges from curling up.
