I've worn 8-1/2, 4E running shoes for over 25 years. I used to wear shoes from another big brand until their toe box shrank to the point where my feet went numb when walking. Then I switched to New Balance. The first pairs I bought were in answer to a prayer, they were so roomy and comfortable. It's been hit and miss ever since. I have 2 pairs of 1080s that fit like a dream. These shoes, the 520s, are noticeably shorter, smaller, and narrower. I don't understand why companies make such small sizes and narrower widths. It wasn't that runners didn't pay for the convenience of wider, lower shoes, they simply refused to make them. It's a pain, both literally and figuratively.
