Review on Elac SUB1010 120-Watt 10-Inch Powered Subwoofer in Black (SUB1010-BK) - Amplified Bass for Enhanced Audio Experience by Chris Santos

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent in combination with Edifier R1700BT

I'm not doing this Edifier review but I've owned two of their sets for a few years and love them. So when they released an updated version that included a subwoofer, I bought a set and started looking for a subwoofer. After reading and watching a bunch of reviews (there are plenty of subwoofer videos "under $200 for 10"), I pulled the Elac's trigger. Specifically, a review found that the Elac had the best performance, lowest frequency response, and cheapest price. Stereo systems are very subjective due to listener preferences, the music they listen to, room size, room treatment and speaker placement to name a few. For me it was a home game. This is used along with Edifiers in a small home studio of about 15" x 15" with 9" ceilings with minimal room processing. Sounds really good. So much so that this setup has replaced my LP6s (real studio monitors) and /or machine and back to the studio for correction), especially the lower frequency ally. Being able to mix while listening to low frequencies was a game changer. I've even gone back and corrected previous mixes where low frequencies were missing previously were missed are now showing their ugly side. And for those who just want nice bass when listening to music or gaming, I'll add that with this setting I also just listen to music and it sounds great. The subwoofer has a nice look, dirty but not (thanks to the ability to adjust the crossover. In the end, you just can't beat the price for what you get. Looks great, sounds great, top-of-the-line Ve rsand and a few leftovers in your wallet. Highly recommended.
