I bought a larger size based on reviews which mostly said "smaller than expected" and as I didn't have much time to deal with returns and exchanges , I decided more is better. The product has a 'concession' so even if I bought by my usual size I might be ok in the body but the sleeves were lacy with a slight concession and as my shoulders are chunky I wouldn't expect that it fits a smaller size. The body seemed out of proportion to the chest as it fitted perfectly even though I don't have much top. As if the dress consists of several sizes. In any case, go up in size if you're concerned about fit and don't mind the extra room to maneuver. The only other downside would be that the tassels are cords (as advertised), I've noticed throughout the night finding cords here and there and later in my closet. So they "lost" a bit, but not enough to dissuade me from recommending them. If I could do it all over again I would take the exact same dress/size. Perfect for a fancy dress party and even as an evening dress, especially suitable for chunky girls like me.
