Review on πŸŽ™οΈ TASCAM DR-05 Portable Digital Recorder (Version 2): Unleashing Enhanced Recording Capabilities by John Destruction

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Is it live or is it my Tascam PCM recorder?

Update: After about a year and a half this device no longer supports batteries (claims all new ones are dead) and no longer boots with SD card inserted - needs to be removed. and then paste it without card after loading. (You'll also need to use a DC power supply.) Who knows what he'll do next. 2 stars deducted for lack of durability. I use this product to record our growing music group so we can see where we need to improve and to record other local bands live. I like the fact that you can turn off the automatic level control, which gives a much more realistic recording. Also, the added noise is practically nil, so I usually set the input level low to avoid clipping when the audio gets too loud. I also use a digital audio editor to make adjustments to the recorded file. Those who prefer to record compressed MP3 files will find sufficient space on the 4 GB memory card supplied. I prefer to record in WAV format so I bought a 16GB card to record larger files. I also like the fact that this device accepts NiMH batteries and can be set to detect a low battery level for either 1.5V alkaline or NiMH 1.2V batteries record with headphones.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
