Review on C2G 27005 Panasonic USB Cable: Fast and Reliable Connection for Your Devices by Todd Phillips

My external DVD player comes with a short power/data cable with dual cable supplied. Most external players have a Y format in case you need to connect to two ports at the same time to allow the DVD reader/writer to draw enough power to operate. However, all of my modern computers, whether desktops or laptops, offer enough performance for reading (light) and writing (slightly more demanding) that the extra "head" of a standard DVD cable is wasted and wasted space. , or my kids plug in the wrong Y-piece and wonder why the DVD player doesn't work (only one of the heads is moving data). So two solutions. This is a thin C2G (Cables to Go) cable, a 1 meter cable that is a straight cable without a Y head, or a RevainBasics USB 2.0 A Male to Mini B Cable ( 6 feet / 1.8 meters). I don't mind having a spare cable so I ordered both. C2G is thinner, lighter and shorter; Revain is more reliable and of course longer. Both do their job; I prefer C2G for two reasons: 1. I can easily fit my very compact Lenovo external DVD a quarter into a Ziploc along with the C2G cable because C2G is much less bulky. Sometimes I use my external DVD player to watch a movie on a laptop that (today!) doesn't have a DVD drive. So I just put the DVD player on the couch or bedside table and this new extra cable is long enough not to get in the way of the DVD player while I'm watching TV - there's enough slack in the cable. The Revain cable is significantly stiffer and transfers every movement from the laptop directly to the DVD player. Not a problem with a laptop on a desk, a problem if you're using the Logitech Portable Lapdesk N315. So, due to the very low price of this cable, you should consider replacing your standard DVD cable with one of these. It will work too. with other devices that use the mini-B connector, although there are fewer and fewer of them. If you're not sure what your connector is called, look up USB on Wikipedia for easily identifiable photos. My Revain seller was Amamax and they were fast and reliable.
