Well I'm an engineer and at least when it came to wiring I've always thought that longer cord means more material which means more resistance and therefore signal degradation. I'm also a guitarist and I notice a loss of tone with longer guitar cables. But with these cables it seems to be the other way around. I'm not an HDMI fan and this is my second set of HDMI cables (both from Amazon). The previous ones were 6 feet. I just wall mounted my 52 inch Sony Bravia LCD TV and needed these longer cables to connect my HDTV DVR and DVD player. After mounting it on the wall and connecting the cables, I turn on the HGTV and immediately thought the picture was "fat as hell". I couldn't resist, I had to lower the backlight, picture (contrast), brightness and even color by at least 25% to make it look like it used to with 6ft cables. In short, same channels/programs, same TV, set up in the same room (just a few feet up) with just a difference in the cable, there is a noticeable difference in picture quality. The difference is for the better. I'm glad I went back to Amazon for these inexpensive quality cables. Many Thanks.
