Walk barefoot, of course. I only use them in the woods and allotments not on the street or old train tracks and it really improved my running experience. Climbing hills feels a lot more natural (and easier). The only issue I have is that they don't really offer enough toe protection. The forest is the root and I'm old so this is a marriage made in hell. I come home with a lot of bruised toes. Sometimes I trip over roots etc and it hurts. This is the only adjustment I keep trying to make.
