The Tonrew waterproof mattress pad is very light and has a plastic base with a velvety top. The product information is somewhat contradictory and confusing. The product information says vinyl-free, but the material says vinyl. I can't find anything about the materials used either on the product packaging or on the label. But I'm pretty sure there is a typical synthetic vinyl/PVC that is waterproof. But the velvet top is so soft and silent, no noise compared to the plastic bottom. The sides are fully stretchable mesh that fits my new thick expensive 14.5 inch mattress. I wish the tread was a little thicker and flatter, and the mesh and stretch material stronger and more durable so it fits closer to the mattress and doesn't create lumps when a deep fitted sheet goes overboard. Like the military, I like tight-fitting sheets that I can puff out a quarter. At night, when I roll over, I don't want the loose sheets and mattress pad underneath me to move as well. A high-quality microfiber bed sheet and a combed Egyptian cotton duvet cover, a new combination for a good night's sleep.
