Large piece of dirt on a spoon, straight out of the sealed package. The back of the knife (which is not visible in the product photos or in the sealed packaging) has a large, ugly "CHINA" stamp in the center, making the back of the knife look significantly cheaper and uglier than the front. The knife is already significantly shorter, thinner and lighter than most steak knives, adding to the cheap feel. So if you're right-handed like me and plan on using this as a lunch set, be prepared for your colleagues to often see this side of the knife and take pity on you. Hopefully it's not enough that they ask if they can get you a "real" knife. There are also very bad machining marks on the back of the knife, next to the serrated edge. The back is much worse than the front (again the only side visible while in the box), it seems the front has been smoothed and polished a bit better. However, once you notice the machining marks on the back, you will easily notice them on the front as well. The serrated edge looks much smoother and more polished. It's also quite sharp, even the tips/tips of the tines. Probably not the sharpest serrated edge in town, but it's quite as sharp as ALL my very old steak knives in the kitchen. Will definitely cut through any steak you throw at it. All 3 utensils have a round hole in the same place. Presumably so you can tie them all together somehow if you don't want to use the included pouch, but there's nothing else in the box for that. So you'll have to find out for yourself if you really want to. The stitching on the bag seems ok but I don't know how it will hold up to heavy use. Although there is a very strong "Chinese factory" chemical smell coming from the bag. I bought this kit solely for the knife. I already have a lunch box dinnerware set with a foil lined metal storage bag. I just grab the knife from it and throw it in this set. But other than that, forks and spoons are crazy loonies. I just noticed that the spoon is kind of flat on top and even the bulge of the belly gets flat in some places. Unlike any other spoon I have ever seen or used. But maybe this is to make scooping the leftovers out of a camping mug or bowl easier? Have to wait to try. And I definitely don't like the connector, the outer pins are bent. Doesn't seem structurally sound or like it could handle a steak. I'm glad I'm throwing the fork and spoon back in my bag, in my desk drawer, never to be seen again. - 1 star for the dirt on the spoon. use.
