Unfortunately, ASUS SDRW-08U1MT differs from the original one in the "dead" MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ8G6 drive, but it turned out that it can still be removed, despite to the fact that it sits very tightly in the grooves of the new ASUS SDRW-08U1MT drive and can be replaced with the old one, from MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ8G6, made to fit the shape of the side of the laptop case, but you need to do this carefully so as not to break the plastic latches on this overlay with eject button and LED. Has cons: I haven’t noticed yet, except that a flat plastic overlay with the inscription DVD MULTI RECORDER, a drive open button and an LED window is difficult to remove from the grooves of the case of this drive, but it is still possible to do it carefully if desired and with due skill
