Not so waterproof!

So I used it to connect the new lighting harness on my boat trailer and the Hauler car 7 pin connector. At first I was very impressed with how well it worked. At first glance everything was very well sealed. All the lights worked including the turn signals on my boat trailer that didn't work before. For this reason I only left a 2x review and was generous as these connectors are as far from waterproof as you can get. - I used them to connect individual boat trailer lights to the then also brand new main wiring harness. I strapped them all to the frame, making sure they wouldn't stretch or move. When I first used the boat on the lake all the trailer lights stopped working. Upon inspection of every single connection made with these connectors, there was water in the connector, even with electrical tape. - So after drying I decided to check the connectors on the wiring harness of my car transporter which was not in use and sat at my entrance. Water can only penetrate through rain. I connected my wiring harness to the truck, the lights don't work again. So I took a blow dryer dried the connectors and reconnected the wiring harness to my truck and don't you know the headlights worked fine? I've since replaced all the connectors and re-soldered the wires with a true waterproof connector. and haven't had any problems yet. If you're using them for stereo or speaker jacks they'd be great, but for anything where you need a truly waterproof one, avoid them at all costs.

Pros
  • Wiring and connection
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
