I've tried several power supplies and this is the only one that provides consistent reliability. Most people focus on amps and think that high amps offer more reliability. However, 1A is more than enough. The source of many problems is the voltage drop caused by thin USB cables. The Adafruit 501 solves this problem by increasing the output voltage to 5.25V. I've had intermittent issues with my Pi, and replacing the included power supply with Adafruit fixed them all. The image on the monitor also looks better. It turned out that the old noisy power supply was causing a very noticeable flickering on my monitor. I would also recommend that you purchase a short, good quality USB cable. Monoprice manufactures 24 AWG gold-plated USB cables with ferrite filters in 1.5" and 3" lengths.
