I have had two of these beds for 3.5 years - medium and large to accommodate my Aussie and my American mini popsicle. They don't chew, but eski scratch on the bed. No problem - no tears and breaks. They can be washed in two loads in your home washing machine - one for the pillows and one for the bedspreads. As the Esky is a very old dog, almost 18 years old, we have chosen to waterproof the cushions using plastic bags for the rollers and an appropriately sized waterproof cushion cover for the main cushion to protect the fibers from the occasional " Sorry but I can't "Hold" accident. Works well - reduces washing time as pillow inserts don't get dirty. Esky loves both beds and throws Aussie on both quite often.
