Review on TICONN Connectors Self Stripping Electrical Disconnect by Andrew Krishna

No Use - Wiring and Termination

I bought these because I wanted to connect them to the turn signal and reverse light wires in my car. Before proceeding with this factory new wiring, I decided to do a dyno test. These couplers work by forcing the wire into a metal conduit that should basically strip the sides of the wire and make contact. In practice it technically works, but I have serious doubts about the quality and safety of using this product. With each test, I found several strands in the tapped wire to break. I've tried different sizes but either poor contact, no contact or too much damage to the main cable. It doesn't seem like such a big deal, but if you ever want to remove them, you'll be left with a twisted wire. I've also read that vehicles with overly sensitive CAN systems experience this drop in conductivity. Knowing this, I will not use them in any project that requires 100% certainty, security or durability. A little hobby project maybe. New car, no chance.
