The assembly is quite simple and clear. I love the design and it feels like it should be able to hold a kitten with the power of a decent sized cat. But the suction cups slide down under a few pounds of force, so if you don't stick the silicone to the glass you can scrape it off later. I had to move it to the bottom of the glass door. My cat had to slip on it and when I tried to pull it back I grabbed the curtain for a quick grab and pulled it down causing the rod and curtains to bang all over the place and now my cat is sleeping on the couch and won't go to the bedroom to try again. I would say this would be ideal for kittens and small/younger cats that are more adventurous. But unfortunately my old man is happy on his scratching post or on the floor and looks out the glass door.
