This is a sturdy, attractive laptop stand a few inches above your desk. It's simple - only three parts and very easy to assemble. Why is one needed? Well, on my laptop, when I'm in a web conference, the webcam is unflatteringly focused on my chin, and the light adds Father Time-esque shadows that are a mix of wrinkles and scars. (I already have a surplus, so adding more isn't desirable.) Place the laptop on top of a stack of books or a box and you should be able to resolve this -- as long as you don't slam the laptop shut when you after grabbing the mute button and the laptop falls out of the box. This rarely happens with the Bewahly stand. But it's not 5 stars because this model is not adjustable in height. This isn't really a design or implementation hit; They executed this design well, but that's a consideration. My much smaller companion doesn't need a height that fits me.
