Now that I've taken this towel/blanket to several places, I feel like I can give an accurate overview. Firstly, this towel does NOT absorb moisture, it repels water. I would definitely not recommend it for a pool day. However, I took it to the beach to knock over a chair and it had very little sand in it which was amazing! Your friends will thank you too, as long as your towel doesn't cover everyone with sand. I also used it in the park just as a blanket to sit on and it worked great for that; However, since it's very light, you'll need to make sure you have items to place in the corners if you're in a windy area. We also use it on golf cart rides to put on the seats (the seats get really hot and your feet sweat a lot). The towel is great too! Overall I'm very happy with it, so I'm ordering a few more!
