I bought this cable because I was upgrading to a graphics card with 3 DisplayPort outs and 1 HDMI out and my older monitors don't support full 2560x1440 resolution over HDMI. The cable works 95% of the time, but sometimes the monitor it's connected to goes off for a few seconds. What's even more annoying, about half the time I start my computer or wake it from sleep, the monitor behaves as if it's turned off until I unplug both the HDMI and USB cable components, 5 seconds wait and plug it back in. It's not perfect, but tolerable until I find a reason to upgrade my monitors.
