Review on Grey Hazel Beoplay H8 Wireless On-Ear Headphone with Active Noise Cancelling from Bang & Olufsen by Mateusz Marek ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best thing for the money, I'm glad I chose this option.

I do not understand most of the complaints about this model of headphones. Most often they blame the price, they say "why such an overpayment! Headphones for 5000 sound better! ". Firstly, I don’t believe it - ears for 5-6 thousand do not give such a level of sound. Yes, perhaps this is not an audiophile delight, but not m consumer goods either. And although this device supports FLAC files, I don’t really understand why I should listen to it via bluetooth on a smartphone :) For the sake of experiment, I listened to one interesting album in lowless format (Kula Shaker -Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts) and did not feel much difference with the service Google Play. But the fact that they are wireless clearly indicates the case of using these ears. About the materials from which Beoplay H8 are made. For some reason, sellers and buyers call them "premium". But aluminum and leather are not premium, but ordinary materials! Premium, this is gold, silver, maybe anium and copper. And these are just good, durable materials. It's just that since the last century, when bakelite and plexigl announced the era of cheap materials, good materials have ceased to be serial, and have become more expensive than the mainstream range. But it should be understood that the overpayment for such materials and for the clic design is justified. Because it greatly increases the durability of the product. It will not wear out like cheap plastic in a couple of years (and scuffs will only add nobility :)) and will not go out of fashion like edgy gizmos. In theory, such a product can be inherited. About unstable bluetooth. Unfortunately, apparently this is again a lack of apple trees. Because the complaints are usually from users of Apple products, I connected to two smartphones (Sony Xperia Z5 compact and LG V10), none of them were capricious.

Pros
  • Visually and tactilely very pleasant thing. Excellent bluetooth connection quality, compared to the previous wireless earphone (Jabra Step), the connection is an order of magnitude more reliable. The sound is very good, I'm not an audiophile, I can't describe it in terms like "attack, stage, fork" etc. but what I hear in these ears is much better than most headphones I've owned. Just in moderation and no hodgepodge of sounds, very distinct, loud enough. First time I've bought an overhead model. For an hour and a half of listening, I did not experience any unpleasant feelings, but when I took off the headphones, I realized that the auricles were quite tightly crushed, and that this was not entirely pleasant. But listening to music, you do not pay attention to it. In general, great stuff.
Cons
  • The effect of noise reduction seemed insignificant to me. It is there, but it seems to me that it is not worth it to turn it on, given the fact that it eats up its share of electricity. Perhaps in noisier places, noise reduction is more pronounced, but the street noise of a small city is not particularly hidden. However, I don’t need it, and the overhead lambskin ear pads fit rather tightly to the ears and cut off extraneous sounds mechanically, quite effectively. I was surprised that the touch control is turned off when listening to music through the cord. And the complete cord is just a jack-jack, without control ons. And the cord is poor, short, made of black plastic, without a fabric braid. Apparently, listening through the cord was defined as music lovers, not for the phone, but for higher-cl players that do not have the function of receiving calls :)
