I bought this hand mixer to replace an old Proctor Silex I bought 7-8 years ago for less than $10. I really liked the hand mixer. I use it regularly and in all the years of ownership I've never had a problem with it. I wouldn't have replaced it if the cord and plug hadn't accidentally been dipped in vegetable oil. I didn't want to risk a fire (even after cleaning) so I decided to upgrade to this Hamilton Beach Blender which had more speed options available. I tried this blender because I was constantly looking for my beaters. and i liked the latch on the case it came in. Well now that I've used it a few times I have to say it's just okay and not spectacular. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: * Convenient carrying case * Low speed works well for mixing ingredients * I like that it comes with a whisk attachment Cons: * Heavier than my previous mixer, tires my hand faster than I would like * A shallow Cocoa powder or cinnamon dust will cover the front of the mixer, even when used on low speed* Whisks are too close together, making thicker batter MUCH harder to knock out of mixer if not removed from mixer. works, I preferred the cheaper blender I had before to this one. I might consider buying something else.
