Beard Oil isn't bad, the smell is minimal, but it's something, not pungent, just noticeable. It definitely has to do with the oils used in the product. I've wanted to try a beard oil for a long time, mostly after showering and washing my beard because it gets so dry, and this one works great. I use this with my beard wax and sometimes I just use one or the other now. When used together my beard feels very soft and looks shiny. I'm not sure if I got it on sale either, but the price has definitely gone up since I bought it about a week or two ago. $5.97 was the price I bought it for and that was a big reason I bought it Firstly because many other beard oils are more expensive.
