The belt keeps the pants in place like any other belt. The buckle is strong for those with the same girth as mine. My complaint is that the paint on the belt left a stain on the dress pants. Not sure if it's because of the sweaty waist or the belt holding the pants and washing them. There's a stain on my pants. This is a fairly serious violation. The belt looks good but ultimately it didn't live up to expectations and I wouldn't recommend it. The overview has been updated and now contains an image with spots.
