Cheap plastic, hard to tell if they're on or not (recommend buying a pair with visible light on the earcup), this pair has a tiny point of light that on/off is button is the 'play' button which has a horrible design so my daughter never turns them off when she's done resulting in them always dead. I recommend buying a pair with a real switch. They also don't fold, which is pretty inconvenient for storage and basically makes them useless for travel. I regret the purchase and will likely make these headphones our replacement.
