I work in a warehouse where I have to spend time several times a day at 34 degrees. I wanted a jacket that was warm enough that I didn't have to wear a lot and didn't get too hot in the office. This jacket is SO warm. I'm usually medium, but I bought the large because I didn't want it to be too tight. I would like to buy my normal size because it's quite big, but that's ok. If I was more concerned that it flatters me I'd trade it in, but since it's only for work I don't mind. The only thing that doesn't freak me out is the hood. I can't see very well when I'm wearing it because the fur is so thick. It doesn't fall off like many hoods, so that might be a plus for you.
