I recently moved into an apartment in Arlington. A few days after moving in, I noticed that my hair felt extra dry and porous no matter what expensive conditioner I put on it. I also noticed my skin was itchy after showering. I also noticed an occasional smell of sulfur or chlorine coming from the faucets. I mentioned this to a neighbor and she said the water in the area was very hard - so hard that sediment could be seen in water glasses. If you have hard water and are experiencing negative effects on your hair/skin, I highly recommend trying this filter. You will notice the difference. If you bleach, dye or otherwise chemically treat your hair and have hard water, then you definitely need a chlorine filter - chlorine destroys healthy hair and damages chemically treated hair.
