Soap didn't come out black, it was a medium brown (I think coffee with a hint of cream) but still works really well. After just two uses, some of the stubborn blackheads on my nose are almost completely gone and the rest of my skin feels much better than before. In the last five months I have tried five different types of body gel because the water I use for bathing is extremely difficult. After using this soap once in the shower without lotion, I feel better afterwards than with shower gel and lotion. It's too early to tell if this will do anything for your back, but I have high hopes. If you are planning to use or have used friends or family, this is a very good option!
