Review on πŸ”¨ MaxTite Pine Wood Shims - Contractor Grade (12 Pack): Boost Your Project with Premium Quality! by Mark Morrow

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's great for the price!

I use wood shims to hold rocks securely in a vise before sawing them with a saw. I used what was usually at my local hardware store - always took 10 or 20 at a time because they broke, got lost in the oil, or got stolen by gnomes. For years I have used Nelson kiln dried wood spacers because they were always available at my local store. They work, but have little recoil and often break rather than bend. I'm sure they have many other great properties, but now that I've found these pine nuts I don't think I'll ever use anything else. The purpose of using shims in a vise is to protect the vise shims so the stone will cut into the shims but not the shims. They have a BIG bite. You can actually see the stone sink into the spacer as you tighten the saw. And I love how you get 120 for only $22. That's the brand I'm sticking with from now on.

  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
