Review on Panasonic RF 2400 AM Radio Silver by Bai Dang Thi ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like the product, the quality didn't let me down.

I took it for use in two places at once: the city and the village (30 km from the city). The plans were to listen to 4 favorite radio stations. I chose between one well-known Chinese brand and this receiver. I took Panasonic, because. I trust this ancient company. What I got: in the city, a confident reception of three stations (which we plan to listen to, since there are much more of them) without opening the antenna. The fourth with an antenna. The tower of this station is not in the city, but in one district town, 45 kilometers away. But if Wikipedia is not lying, the transmitter is powerful there and the suspension height is also large. In the village: confident reception of all the same three stations, but the fourth one is already in trouble. Couldn't set it up outside. As soon as you move away, the wave floats away. I was able to set it up at home, but it's difficult to set up. The scale is analog, other stations are climbing, it is very difficult to understand that you have tuned in where you planned. But the car radio of not the best quality takes this station without problems. To the tower 60 km. But at the same time, stations are caught either from Yaroslavl, or from Kostroma (78 and 73 km). Here I sit and think why the station, closer to 10 km with good power and suspension height, is not well caught. It turns out that the radio in the car is more sensitive. The sound is mediocre, even though I'm not an audiophile. There are very few high frequencies. In my opinion, this radio is a good replacement for a wired radio for a person who is not demanding on sound and listens to one channel. If the task is to often switch strictly between certain channels, then it is better to take a digital one with memory for channels. I find the controls comfortable and responsive, the only thing that interferes is the protruding fork on the left side. It would be more convenient if the wire went out the back. In general, a good radio, but without the WOW effect. Most likely he will register for a permanent position in the city. Comparing with Chinese watches + radio is pointless. The Chinese catch what they can, not what they need. I'll try to find something more sensitive in the village. A solid four with a plus. Minus a star for sound.

Pros
  • Long cord (1.6 meters). Nice design, comfortable ergonomics. Many are unhappy, but I like everything. I find both the tuning knob and volume control comfortable and thoughtful. A large convenient scale helps you tune in to the desired station.
Cons
  • Mediocre sound. The plug on the left wall strongly protrudes beyond the dimensions of the receiver. The headphone jack is either for a non-standard plug, or it only outputs sound to the left ear. In the instructions, it is drawn that the earpiece is one on the left ear. In the battery compartment, the cells for the batteries are not in the same plane, as if the compartment is slightly pressed in the middle. Sensitivity is good, but not the best. See comment.
