I give it five stars because it did what I needed. We had an intractable septic problem that baffled the professionals. We had to do multiple paint tests over several weeks in different locations to track down the leak. To make sure we didn't get an old dye from a previous test, we alternated this red dye with a fluorescent green of the same brand. The green dye was MUCH lighter and stronger. Even tiny amounts of it glowed madly under the black light. Red dye also worked, but not as well. So if you want the best, start with green. However, both colors are stunning. They will turn a few thousand gallons of water or septic waste extremely colored. Also search "Pee Dar" on Amazon, they make a UV flashlight that works really well with green.
