I ordered this carbon monoxide meter to make sure it wasn't coming out of our new oven. When you turn on the device for the first time, it will "count down" to calibrate before use. It may take a few minutes, but it doesn't distract me. For the price, this device did exactly what I needed. I tested it by placing it under my car's exhaust and the device definitely measures carbon monoxide levels when it rises rapidly and the built in alarm goes off. This gave me confidence that the zero readings I was getting in our home and around our oven were correct. I even had an HVAC specialist verify the results with his equipment; what he did. I am happy with this purchase for my personal home use.
