While it's true that today's mobile devices are making these tape recorders 95% obsolete, they're still good to listen to if you have plenty of tapes left. Once upon a time cassette players were everywhere and when it was an AM/FM/cassette combo many people couldn't live without it. Today, some of us still have some old cassettes that are still in good condition and still contain music that we haven't replaced with DVD or mp3 yet. And while the fading mechanism may be a high price to pay, this Sony player is valued for these reasons.
