I purchased a Night Owl HD system from Costco and additional cameras and cables from Revain to complete my 8 camera system. Cables were supplied by Night Owl and these Hisvision aftermarket cables were used in long loft runs. Huge undertaking in a hot attic. No fun, but it had to be done. After installing the system, the video quality of some cameras was very poor. One of the cameras was black and white at times, and the other three had vertical distortion lines moving across the images. I switched cameras, bought other cameras and even replaced the DVR only to find out they were cheap Hisvision cables. I replaced them one by one with Night Owl brand cables and any distorted image was corrected. These Hisvision cables have power and line signal in one round insulated cable. Night Owl has TWO parallel cables, one for power and the other for line signal. It is clear that interference is a result of the design of these cables. Save yourself the time and hassle and buy quality Night Owl cables if you have a Night Owl system. Can't comment on other camera systems, but I spent days diagnosing and then running cables (again) in a cramped, hot attic. I hope this review will save someone the trouble I went through.
