My two cats have been using these steps for over four years and the steps are still in perfect condition - no holes, no tears, no sagging. A cat weighs about 6 pounds; the other weighs about 20 pounds. The steps will creak and groan a little when the big cat is pacing, but they are quiet when the small cat is pacing. Putting the steps together was a bit confusing at times (figuring out how to match each edge to the correct slot), but it didn't take long to complete the task once I started using the photo on the box as a guide. The little cat had to be lured up the stairs first, but after I tied the treat to a string, she followed her straight up - no hesitation after that. Overall I am very satisfied with this product.
